Did you know?
Blood clots, which form in the deep veins of the body, occur in at approximately 900,000 people in the U.S. each year and kill nearly one-third of those affected. Many blood clots and deaths can be prevented.
Unfortunately, current public awareness about clotting is extremely low—only about 6 percent of people know the symptoms of a clot and how it can be prevented. The Clot Connect project is designed to meet the need for improved education.
Clot Connect is a collaborative outreach project led by the UNC Blood Clot Outreach Program that engages community partners in an effort to explore how patients and health care professionals can become better educated about blood clots and clotting disorders.Through a combination of print, online and in-person outreach, educational initiatives target persons with blood clots, people at high-risk for developing blood clots, and health care professionals.
