A brochure on Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT) is now available on the Clot Connect website. Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is a serious side effect that can happen when being treated with heparin. Heparin is a medication used to decrease clotting or "thin the blood". Unfortunately, heparin can occasionally lead to low blood platelet counts and to life-threatening blood clots.
The HIT brochure is the first in a series of Clot Connect brochures in development.
The brochure was made possible by an unrestricted educational grant from Canyon Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
